Want to sing?
We’re a TTBB chorus that welcomes everyone—including cisgender women, trans, non-binary, and gender-fluid singers—who share our mission of using music to uplift the LGBTQIA+ community.
We look for:
- A love for singing
- A good TTBB voice
- Teamwork and a positive attitude
- Some musical skills or a good ear
- A commitment to rehearsals and performances
- Passion for equality through song
Whether you’ve sung in choirs, musicals, church, or just karaoke—we want to hear you!
Auditions are quick—just 10 minutes—and low-pressure.
You’ll meet current members, get your questions answered, and leave feeling supported. We are more than a chorus… we’re a community.
We work hard, sing proudly, and show up for each other—and for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Auditions can sound scary—but think of this as a chance for us to meet you, hear your voice, and welcome you into the process.
Before you audition
- You’ll fill out the online form if you haven’t already.
- We may ask for a bit more info when you arrive.
- We’ll also take a photo to help us remember you. This stays internal only.
What happens in the room
1. A brief chat
We’ll introduce ourselves and get to know you. We’ll ask about:
- Your singing experience
- What brings you to SDGMC
- Your pronouns (optional)
- Any vocal changes we should be aware of
Need accommodations or have accessibility questions? Let us know in the audition form or email auditions@sdgmc.org
2. Range check
We’ll guide you through simple vocal exercises to find your range and best fit in the group.
3. Your song (30 seconds)
Prepare a short piece that shows off your voice. You can sing:
- A cappella
- With live piano (bring sheet music in the right key, clearly marked)
- With a track (bring your own phone and speaker—fully charged)
4. Music skills
We’ll wrap up with a few exercises to test your:
- Listening
- Memory
- Optional sight-reading
- Don’t worry if you don’t read music—many members learn by ear.
We’ll contact you within a few days. If accepted, keep Monday nights open and watch your inbox. If not, don’t be discouraged—many singers try again later.
You got this. Prepare well, take a deep breath, and have fun!
