Jeremy Bauer first joined the GALA choral movement in 2005 as a second tenor in the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, D.C. After completing two years of Peace Corps service in Nicaragua, Jeremy had moved to D.C. to work on clean water issues as an environmental scientist with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. A highlight of his time in the nation’s capital included the opportunity to sing “My Country, ’Tis of Thee” with GMCW at the Lincoln Memorial, feet away from President-elect Obama and his family during his first inauguration celebration.
In 2013, Jeremy left D.C. to go west to San Diego with his partner and dogs for sunnier skies and an ocean breeze where he joined SDGMC shortly after as a first tenor. In 2019, Jeremy moved temporarily to San Francisco to pursue a promotion opportunity with the EPA, managing much of the agency’s community-based work across the region. Not wanting to pause his singing, Jeremy joined the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus while in the Bay Area. In 2023, Jeremy left the EPA to take a job with the City of San Diego serving as Assistant Director of the Environmental Services Department where he can serve his local community.
Now permanently back home, Jeremy is singing again with SDGMC and is excited to support the success of the organization as one of its newest board members.
